Oregon Shakespeare Festival Retreat
Attending plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival is even better with others to share the experience. At this retreat, you also get the added bonus of enjoying the beauty and comfort of Camp Latgawa in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest! A Shakespearean scholar will lead interactive discussions to help you better understand Shakespeare’s writings and enrich your viewing of the performances. Van transportation is provided to and from each play from Camp Latgawa. You may choose to see as many of the plays as you like.
This event will start on Tuesday afternoon between 4pm – 6pm. Please let the camp know if you will be later than this. The event will conclude after breakfast on Sunday.
The plays that will be viewed and discussed this year:
Wednesday, July 10, 8pm, Macbeth
Thursday, July 11, 8pm, As You Like It
Friday, July 12, 8pm, All’s Well That Ends Well
Cost of the plays this year is $75 per ticket. Van transportation will be provided to and from the plays or if you prefer to drive yourself, you may do so. A picnic meal in Lithia Park may be arranged prior to some plays depending on the schedule.
During the week there will be options to visit southern Oregon artisan food and beverage sites. Tastings at each location may require a separate fee to be paid by participants. Afternoons are unscheduled. You can hike, swim in the pool, play ping-pong, read a good book, or go to Ashland early for dinner and shopping.
Our website has the information about what to bring, directions to camp, camp policies and health forms on one page: READY, SET, GO to CAMP!
If registering by mail, please send a completed health form to the camp at least 10 days before the camp begins.
If you have special dietary needs, please contact the camp at least two weeks in advance. (Contact information below.)
We are thrilled to have various area professionals to serve as our Shakespearean discussion leaders. Their leadership is greatly appreciated. Discussions of the play will generally take place in the mornings. It might be helpful to bring your own copies of the plays and read them prior to the start of the camp, but this is not required.
